Digital Darkroom

In the Digital Darkroom 8-hour course, students learn to use generic tools to improve their images. Students will receive project assignments to e-mail the instructor. Working knowledge of computers is required.

Digital Photography, Basic

This course will address all aspects of digital photography including equipment choice, image composition and capture, image editing, image printing, and archiving. Particular emphasis will be placed on digital camera operation and image composition.

 

Digital Scrapbooking

Instruction will cover the basic "how-to" along with organizational tips for getting started. This is not a digital workshop, but will provide students with the skills necessary to create their own scrapbooks from home.

 

Mastering Digital Photography

Students will learn the difference between ordinary and extraordinary photography. Completed photography assignments will be critiqued.

 

Photographic Composition: Basics & Beyond

This course explores creative and compositional aspects of the photographic image. It covers basic and advanced compositional issues, as well as the visual elements that photographers use to build compelling images. Creative approach and personal style will be discussed. This course focuses on the photographic image, not on the technical aspects of the camera, though some technical aspects will be covered as they apply to the final image. Photography At Riverbanks

Enjoy the world of Riverbanks Zoo and Botanical Gardens through a camera lens. Learn shooting skills; then evaluate and adjust photo assignments in this wonderful environment. The class meets at Harbison Campus Saturday mornings and on the last Tuesday class.

 

Photography Certificate

Whether your desire is to improve your knowledge of all aspects of photography or to prepare for a career in the field, you will enjoy this fun, practical, informative and very comprehensive program leading to a Certificate in Photography. This class covers basic camera techniques including exposure, depth of field, composition and how film and digital cameras work. After learning the basics, students are introduced to more advanced classes: flash photography, light and filtration, portrait lighting using studio photofloods, wedding photography and marketing your own photographs. The program concludes with a 9 hour hands-on digital photography lab where you will be introduced to picture editing using the software tools in Adobe Photoshop Elements.

 

Photography Lighting Classes

For those students who already have a thorough working knowledge of basic photography and wish to take some lighting classes without having to go through the entire certificate program, this class focuses on light and filtration, flash photography and portrait lighting.

All non-certificate students in the field of photography will enjoy this practical and informative course. Discover the steps necessary to take a picture that you can be proud of. Study basic camera techniques including exposure, composition and depth of field. A single lens reflex camera is required, either film or digital. Interchangeable lenses are not required but are highly recommended. This basic course will cover the parts of a camera and how each plays a part in making the final image, how film works, exposure, depth of field, composition and an introduction to the world of digital photography.
