Accounting & Payroll Specialist

This program is designed to provide training for an entry-level accounting and/or payroll specialist position. The certificate earned will indicate to an existing or prospective employer that the participant has both the manual and computerized exposure to basic accounting principles, together with other essential knowledge and skills. Courses in this program are: Accounting Essentials, Business Math, Payroll Specialist, Intro. to Computers, Intro. to Excel, Quickbooks, Organizing Computer Files, and Intermediate Excel.

 

Budgeting Basics

Explore virtually every aspect of budgeting from preparing income statements and company expense reports to developing your own personal plan. Understanding the basics of budgeting will help your career and your organization.

 

Business Math

Develop an understanding of the fundamentals of everyday math--the kind we most frequently use in the workplace and at home. Learn practical applications for dealing with percentages, formulas and the graphics and statistics that are so present in everyday activity. Perfect--even if you only need a refresher!

 

Finance & Accounting for Business Managers

Gain an understanding of key financial and operational measures. Learn to prepare and use budgets. Understand the financial implications of your department's actions. This course is perfect for managers and prospective managers. Students will gain an understanding of financial and accounting terms, techniques, and best practices-- all taught by an experienced and practicing accountant.

 

Financial Analysis

Learn advanced, useful information on topics such as forecasting, budgeting techniques, corporate statements, and the use of common stock and debts for capitalization. Ideal for middle managers, small business owners, and entrepreneurs.

 

Open Book Management

Open-book management is a useful tool for growing a business because it encourages employees at all levels to look for ways to make and save money for their company. Managers and supervisors learn to involve their employees in building a more productive and profitable enterprise. Learn how to teach people in your company how money gets made-and lost-and what they can do about it.

 

Personal Math

Do you need to brush up on your math skills? You will love math when you apply it to everyday financial and other types of calculations. Prerequisites: None

 

Personal Money Management

Use everyday math to set saving, spending, and budgeting goals. Additional topics including using Credit will also be discussed. Prerequisites: None

 

Understanding Financial Statements

Everything you always wanted to know about those confusing financial statements but were too embarrassed to ask! This primer of basic business finances takes you step-by-step through all the fundamentals from balance sheets to profit and loss statements--and translates them into meaningful, usable information.

 

Accounting

Accounting Essentials

Master basic record-keeping procedures including: journalizing transactions, posting to a ledger, preparing a trial balance and financial statement. The accounting cycle will also be covered in detail. Students will gain an understanding of key financial and operational measures, including budgeting. Textbook is included with this course.

 

Payroll Preparation Essentials

Aspiring payroll professionals learn the fundamentals needed to excel in this constantly changing field. The course also will appeal to existing payroll professionals as a way to refresh their knowledge and bring them up to date.

 

QuickBooks

Set up a general ledger and chart of accounts, customize forms, create invoices and run payroll using QuickBooks.
