The scope of the Residential Building Codes class is limited to studying and explaining the current residential codes manual adopted by the state of South Carolina. The class will highlight those areas of the code book that the Residential Contractor Exam covers along with the areas that Building Contractors need to know. The course will explain and clarify relevant portions of the code that Residential Contractors, Home Inspectors, or homeowners need to know in order to monitor the work of subcontractors with regard to code compliance, particularly in the areas of structural integrity, public safety and weather tightness of the structure.Homeowners who plan to contract their own homes will profit from this class. Students will learn valuable preparation skills needed to pass the State Exam.
