In this 80-hour course students receive comprehensive training to become an EKG Technician in hospitals, physician offices and clinics. Topics include anatomy and physiology of the heart, mechanics of the EKG machine, and interpretation of an EKG. On completion of this 51-hour course, students should be able to follow universal precautions, tie tourniquets, identify veins, and demonstrate knowledge and use of necessary equipment necessary for drawing blood. The student is not certified after this course--in order to qualify for a cetrifying exam the student must complete 100 blood draws and 25 finger sticks.
