Course Description

Course Name : CEWLD-800 Course Title: Basic Shielded Metal Arc Welding and Oxy-Fuel Cutting Course Description: This course will instruct and assess students in basic American Welding Society (AWS) standards of Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW or stick) and oxy-fuel torch operation. Students will learn how to safely operate an oxy-fuel torch to cut various types of metal. Students will start learning 50/50 build-up welding techniques in the flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead positions to build muscle memory and gain understanding of welding machine settings and various electrode characteristics. Students will then move on to welding multi-pass fillet t-joints in the horizontal, vertical, and overhead positions.
