Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)
You can start a rewarding career as an EMT with just six months of training. The EMT Basic course prepares you to take the National Registry exam. EMTs, also known as First Responders, work in a variety of settings, including county emergency services departments, private ambulance and transport companies, and hospitals. A great demand exists for EMTs. Entry level salary is $32,000 with advancement opportunities to a paramedic.
