Piping techniques are demonstrated and practiced the first night of class.
The supply list will be discussed the first night of class. Wait until after the first class to purchase supplies other than the ones needed for the first night.
Supplies needed for the first night of class: Piping tips (purchase only the tips listed on the Materials List) Disposable piping bags Small pair of scissors 1/2 sheet coated cake board Rubber spatula Small container of prepared Wilton Decorator's Buttercream Wilton cake practice board - mandatory Cake decorating turn table
Instructor will provide recipes or recommend videos during class to assist with your practice outside of class.
Throughout the course piping techniques, torting, filling, and icing a cake are covered. Additionally, buttercream/royal icing flowers (e.g. roses, rose buds, sweet pea, and chrysanthemum) are created for use on the final cake project. Students are introduced to covering a cake with fondant and creating a sugar paste rose spray.
Week 1: Piping and writing techniques. Week 2 and 3: Torting, filling, icing and covering cake in fondant and piping/writing techniques. Week 4 and 5: Royal Icing and buttercream flowers with an introduction to gum paste/sugar paste. The final project is discussed. Week 6: Complete a cake for the final project. | 0.00 |
